Living Dead Girl

(1982)

A toxic spill leaks down into a crypt and brings a Catherine, beautiful woman back to life. The trouble is that now she is a blood thirsty killer. She kills and drinks the blood of the grave robber who had the unfortunate luck of opening her casket. After that she wanders off to the old castle where she used to live. A realtor is showing the place to an old couple who somehow just miss an encounter with the murderous hottie. Later that evening the realtor returns with her boyfriend for a little roll in the hay. Much to their dismay, they meet Catherine first and meet with a gruesome demise.

Catherine's blood sister Helene calls the house to reach the realtor but finds her beloved Catherine alive on the other end of the phone instead. She rushes to the house shocked at Catherine's current state but soon finds herself helping to lure in victims to relieve her sister's hunger pains. As Catherine becomes more aware of her current state she is disturbed by her actions and feels she has become a monster. You just know this can't end well.

I just had to see the film that Rob Zombie became so obsessed with that he wrote a song, dedicated an entire video presentation in his show and married a woman who looks similar to the star of. I don't know that it's obsession worthy but it was a good film. I really liked the progression of Catherine from mindless undead killing machine to a thinking, feeling, emotional beauty saddened by her current state. The love between the two women is so strong, it's clear they would do anything for each other. The film is riddled with gratuitous nudity but unlike other films of this type it does not cheapen the plot. There is a fair amount of gore and I really dug the way she killed. She had these long sharp finger nails and she just casually sauntered up to a person and stabbed a nail into their neck quickly bleeding them out for her meal. Cool and different film, a good watch.
